چکیده

Non-specific adsorption of immunoactive compounds on biosensor surfaces is an important concern in biosensor development. In this study, minimization of nonspecific adsorption onto selfassembled monolayer (SAM) biosensor platforms was studied using electrochemical immunoassay techniques. To compare non-specific adsorption resistance, Au electrodes individually modified with decanethiol (DT), tetraethylene glycol thiol (EG4-SH) and 11mercapto-1-undecanol (11-MUD) monolayers were compared to two component mixed monolayers based on these compounds. The compositions of mixed SAMS were determined by Raman spectroscopy and reflection-adsorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS). The electrochemical immunoassay experiments showed that the tetraethylene glycol thiol was the most resistant to non-specific adsorption.

Carbon Nanotubes with DNA Recognition

We have covalently coupled single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) to peptide nucleic acid (PNA, a synthetic DNA analogue [1]), and shown that the resulting macromolecular wires hybridize with complementary DNA. This provides a powerful tool to incorporate SWNTs into a recognition-based, massively parallel device assembly strategy, and permits sequence-specific attachment of SWNTs to biological ...

Self-assembled arrays of peptide nanotubes by vapour deposition.

The use of bionanostructures in real-world applications will require precise control over biomolecular self-assembly and the ability to scale up production of these materials. A significant challenge is to control the formation of large, homogeneous arrays of bionanostructures on macroscopic surfaces. Previously, bionanostructure formation has been based on the spontaneous growth of heterogenic...

Thermal and chemical stability of diphenylalanine peptide nanotubes: implications for nanotechnological applications.

The diphenylalanine peptide, the core recognition motif of the beta-amyloid polypeptide, efficiently self-assembles into discrete, well-ordered nanotubes. Here, we describe the notable thermal and chemical stability of these tubular structures both in aqueous solution and under dry conditions. Scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM) as well as atomic force microscopy (AFM) r...

New approaches for bottom-up assembly of tobacco mosaic virus-derived nucleoprotein tubes on defined patterns on silica- and polymer-based substrates.

The capability of some natural molecular building blocks to self-organize into defined supramolecular architectures is a versatile tool for nanotechnological applications. Their site-selective integration into a technical context, however, still poses a major challenge. RNA-directed self-assembly of tobacco mosaic virus-derived coat protein on immobilized RNA scaffolds presents a possibility to...

Applications of Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes for the Therapy and Diagnosis of Cancer

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are attractive nanostructures that serve as multifunctional transporters in biomedical applications, especially in the field of cancer therapy and diagnosis. Owing to their easily tunable nature and remarkable properties, numerous functionalizations and treatments of CNTs have been attempted for their utilization as hybrid nano-carriers in the delivery of various antican...
